The Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit is the better fit for tracking several countries, with five named engines and country-level settings. HubSpot AEO costs less and tracks three engines, with only partial support for multiple countries. DeepSmith is a strong alternative on one axis: it tracks AI answers and writes the publish-ready articles that respond to them, on one self-serve plan, with a read-only API and an MCP server for your own data.
If you track AI answers in more than one country, the Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit vs HubSpot AEO choice comes down to how much of the map each tool covers and what it costs to cover it. Semrush lists dozens of countries and several engines. HubSpot lists three engines and no country setting. Both start cheap, and both mostly stop at advice unless you add more. DeepSmith is a third option that tracks and then writes.
Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit vs HubSpot AEO: the short answer
- Choose DeepSmith if you want AI visibility tracking and publish-ready articles in one self-serve plan starting at $99 a month, with a read-only API and MCP server for your own reporting.

- Choose HubSpot AEO if you want the lowest entry price ($50 a month), three engines and a 28-day trial with no card, and most of your tracking is one market.

Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit

The Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit is a set of AI search reports inside the Semrush platform. It covers a visibility score, cited pages, competitor gaps against up to four rivals, prompt research, share of voice, sentiment, daily prompt tracking and an AI site audit. It is sold alone at $99 a month, or bundled with the SEO toolkit in Semrush One at $199 to $549 a month. Semrush is owned by Adobe as of April 2026.
It is built for SEO and marketing teams, agencies and small to mid-size companies, especially ones already on Semrush. The standout is geographic reach, which gets its own section below. The real limit is the standalone allowance of 25 prompts, one Brand Performance domain and one folder, with paid add-ons for more. The toolkit measures and recommends, and it does not write content.
On reviews, the ratings on public sites cover Semrush as a whole and not this toolkit. G2 shows 4.4/5 from 4,046 reviews, checked in September 2026. Reviewers praise the breadth of data and reporting, and they often complain about cost, paid extras and a learning curve. Semrush also does not publish how it samples answers or how long it keeps history, so treat the numbers as directional, which is also how Semrush describes them.
HubSpot AEO

HubSpot AEO is HubSpot's answer engine optimization tool, and it is labelled beta. It runs your tracked prompts daily on ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, then reports visibility, sentiment, share of voice and citations against competitors, with prioritized recommendations and a site audit. HubSpot launched it in April 2026. It costs $50 a month, or $45 billed annually, for 25 prompts and 2,500 answers a month, and it is also included in Marketing Hub Professional and Enterprise.
It is built for marketers who want an easy, low-cost start, including teams whose site is not on HubSpot. The standout is the price and the 28-day trial with no card. The real limits are three engines on every plan, 25 prompts before you buy more at $20 for 10, and one owned domain per setup. Writing blog posts from recommendations needs Marketing Hub.
G2 shows 4.4/5 from 145 reviews, checked in September 2026. Reviewers say it is easy to set up and gives a clear view of competitors. They also say the 25-prompt cap is tight, that Claude is not tracked, and that some recommendations feel generic and need a human read.
DeepSmith: the alternative that tracks and writes

Neither tool above gives a small team the full loop from a gap in AI answers to a published page, on one plan with a price you can read. Semrush does not write content at all, and sends you to its separately sold Content Toolkit. HubSpot AEO can turn a recommendation into a blog draft, but only inside Marketing Hub Professional or Enterprise, which cost $890 and from $3,600 a month, and the draft publishes to a HubSpot blog while an outside blog means copy and paste. Both do real work on tracking, and the gap sits between the tracking and the page.
DeepSmith is an AI search analytics and content production platform in one. The AEO module tracks mention rate, citation rate, share of voice and sentiment, shows which of your pages AI cites, and shows which competitor pages win citations. Opportunity Agents read that data and return content ideas with the evidence attached. The Writer then turns a planned idea into a finished article, researched, linked, with a cover image and metadata, grounded in what Deep IQ stores about your brand, voice and products. Autowrite can run it on a schedule. Produced Content publishes to WordPress, Webflow, Strapi, Sanity or Contentful, or to your own webhooks.

The data is open too. DeepSmith has a read-only REST API, an MCP server with 23 read-only tools that works with Claude, Cursor, Copilot and others, and signed webhooks. Multi-Workspace runs separate brands or clients in one account, each with its own context, content and plan, so a team that runs a separate brand or client per market can give each one a workspace. DeepSmith's product description does not spell out country-level tracking settings, so confirm that against your markets before you commit. For the goal behind most multi-market work, which is getting cited and then publishing pages that earn more citations, the tracking reports the pages AI actually cites and the Writer produces the pages that close the gap.

Plans are Pro at $99 a month ($80 billed annually) with 20 articles, 50 prompts and ChatGPT, Grow at $199 ($160) with 40 articles, 100 prompts and Perplexity added, and Scale at $399 ($299) with 90 articles, 200 prompts and Gemini added. Enterprise is custom and covers all ten engines. There is a 7-day free trial and no long-term contract.
Geographic and language coverage
Semrush wins this one clearly. For the Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit vs HubSpot AEO international question, the public pages give Semrush three separate country options and HubSpot none.
Semrush lists 42 countries plus a worldwide view in its AI Analysis reports, more than 68,000 location and language options in Brand Performance, and 220-plus countries and territories in Prompt Tracking. That is wide, and it is the main reason to pick the toolkit for several markets. There is one catch in the allowances. Brand Performance covers one domain in one chosen location and language, and each extra domain or location is $99 a month. If you treat five countries as five locations, that is $99 plus four add-ons, or $495 a month, before extra prompts. The 25 standalone prompts also have to be split across markets, which leaves about five per country for five countries. Extra prompts come in blocks of 50 at $60 a month.
HubSpot AEO documents no country or location selector and no list of supported languages. Its help pages say to write each prompt in the language your buyer would use where they live, so you can run Spanish prompts next to English ones, but the tool does not say it simulates a local session. I would call that partial support. It works for a few prompt sets in a few languages, and it is a weak base for a formal market-by-market comparison.
Engine coverage
Semrush has the broader engine list, though it varies by report. The toolkit names ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Gemini and Perplexity. Perplexity shows up only in Brand Performance, and AI Overviews is absent from Brand Performance. Gemini is in Prompt Tracking according to two Semrush pages, while a third page disagrees, so check which engine each report uses before you build a plan around it. Claude, Copilot, Grok, Meta AI and DeepSeek are not tracked by the self-serve toolkit.
HubSpot AEO covers ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity on every plan, the same three every time. That consistency is easier to plan around. It means no Google AI Overviews or AI Mode, which matters in markets where Google's AI answers carry a lot of the traffic, and reviewers have asked for Claude.
What DeepSmith does: DeepSmith tracks ten engines in total: ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Grok, Meta AI, Microsoft Copilot and DeepSeek. Coverage rises by plan, from ChatGPT on Pro to Perplexity on Grow and Gemini on Scale, and Enterprise covers all ten. Per-engine results sit side by side in the overview, so a gap on one engine is easy to spot.
Reporting, multiple brands and security
Semrush wins on reporting and client work, and HubSpot wins the compliance line. Semrush feeds its reports into My Reports, which supports PDF export, scheduled reports and shareable dashboards. White-label branding needs the Pro Report add-on at $20 a month. SAML SSO is available by contacting support. Multi-brand tracking is an Enterprise feature, every extra user needs their own $99 license, and Semrush does not mention a SOC 2 report, citing PCI DSS Level 1 and GDPR instead.
HubSpot AEO lists no white-label reporting, client workspaces or agency plan. For more brands you can use prompt groups, the Brands add-on, or buy another AEO instance at $50 a month each. HubSpot's platform holds SOC 2 Type II, though its page does not name AEO in the report scope, and SAML SSO sits at the Enterprise tier.
What DeepSmith does: Multi-Workspace gives each brand or client its own isolated context, content and plan, with teammates invited as owners or members, and each workspace is billed and limited on its own. DeepSmith is SOC 2, GDPR and ISO certified, and the read-only API, with scoped keys, lets you pull the data into your own client dashboards.
Pricing and value
In a HubSpot AEO vs Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit price check, HubSpot wins on entry price and trial terms. At $50 a month for 25 prompts it costs half of Semrush's $99 for the same 25, and the 28-day trial needs no card. Semrush's standalone toolkit has no free trial. A 7-day trial exists through Semrush One Starter and Pro+, which start at $199 and $299 a month. Semrush lists $99 as the price, though its pages do not make clear whether that rate needs annual billing.
Both get more expensive as you scale. Semrush adds $60 for 50 prompts, $99 per extra domain or location and $99 per extra user. HubSpot adds $20 for 10 prompts and $50 per extra brand. Semrush One bundles 50, 100 and 200 daily prompts at $199, $299 and $549 a month. For HubSpot's content features the price jumps, since Marketing Hub Professional is $890 a month ($800 billed annually) and Enterprise starts at $3,600 a month.
What DeepSmith does: DeepSmith publishes four plans with fixed allowances. Pro at $99 a month includes 20 articles and 50 prompts for five seats, and Grow at $199 includes 40 articles and 100 prompts for seven. The tracking and the writing sit on the same plan, so the cost of getting from a gap to a published page does not depend on a second contract. There are no long-term contracts and no cancellation fees.
From insight to action
HubSpot wins this axis between the two, with a caveat on cost. Its recommendations come with a content type, channel, priority and projected citation lift, plus a suggested title, summary, audience and keywords. In Marketing Hub Professional or Enterprise, a Generate blog post action drafts a full blog post in your brand voice for 1,000 HubSpot Credits, and Professional includes 3,000 credits a month. Credits are $10 per 1,000 at the pack rate, so a post runs about $10 in credits once you own the suite.
Semrush's AI Insights and AI Strategic Opportunities turn the brand data into an action plan, but the toolkit does not write content. Briefs and optimization sit in other Semrush toolkits and in the sales-led Enterprise AIO. It also lists no CMS publishing for the toolkit.
What DeepSmith does: DeepSmith's Opportunity Agents return ideas that each carry the data point behind them, such as the competitor page winning a citation and the gap on your own site. Those ideas move to Planned Content, the Writer produces a finished article with internal and external links, a cover image and metadata, and Produced Content publishes to your CMS. The same article arrives with social posts written for repurposing, so the loop from tracking to a published and distributed page stays in one place.
Which should you choose
- DeepSmith fits teams that treat content as a growth channel and want one place to see where they show up in AI answers, decide what to write, and publish it, with data they can pull out through the API or MCP server. It suits agencies and in-house teams running several brands, since each gets its own workspace.
- The Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit fits SEO teams and agencies already on Semrush who need country and language coverage across many markets, white-label reports and SSO. Expect to pay for add-ons as the markets multiply.
- HubSpot AEO fits a marketing team that wants a cheap, easy start on three engines, especially one that already runs Marketing Hub and wants blog drafts from recommendations. It is a good first tool when most of the audience sits in one market.
Whether you land on the Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit or HubSpot AEO, the choice is mostly about how many markets you need to see. Start a DeepSmith free trial to track your prompts and see the first articles for your gaps before you pay.
