BrightEdge sells an enterprise SEO platform with AI tracking by custom proposal and no free trial. SE Ranking AI Visibility comes inside suite plans that start at $129 a month, with a 14-day trial and multi-client projects. For an agency, SE Ranking is the easier one to price and test, and BrightEdge fits clients already working under enterprise contracts. Neither writes full articles. DeepSmith gives each client an isolated workspace with tracking, Deep IQ-grounded article production and direct CMS publishing, on public plans billed per workspace.
An agency picking a tool for client work needs three answers: what it costs, how many clients it holds, and what the team does with the data afterward. BrightEdge vs SE Ranking AI Visibility for agencies is mostly a question of how each one is sold. SE Ranking prints its prices and lets you test before you pay. BrightEdge asks you to talk to sales first. DeepSmith sits beside both as a platform that tracks AI answers and also produces the content that closes the gaps.
BrightEdge vs SE Ranking AI Visibility: the short answer
- Choose DeepSmith if you want each client in its own workspace, with AI tracking, brand-grounded article production and CMS publishing on public plans that start at $99 a month with a 7-day free trial.
- Choose BrightEdge if your clients are large brands that already buy enterprise SEO through a sales process, and you need AI search tracking, SOC 2 documentation and classic SEO data on one contract.
- Choose SE Ranking AI Visibility if you run a stack of smaller client sites and want published suite prices, multi-client projects and AI tracking included on Core and Growth.

BrightEdge
BrightEdge is a sales-led enterprise SEO platform founded in 2007 that has added AI search modules. AI Catalyst tracks mentions, citations and sentiment across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode and Gemini. It also tests answers by persona, practitioner or decision maker. AI Hyper Cube adds demand-weighted research on AI conversations and cited URLs, and AI Agent Insights reports visits from AI crawlers.
It is built for large in-house SEO, content and web teams, and the agencies serving them. The BrightEdge agency page describes a dedicated agency team and a flexible rate card, which is the closest it gets to published agency terms.
The standout is breadth. Keyword research, rank tracking, audits, recommendations and reporting sit on the same data as the AI modules, and reviewers keep praising the depth of the keyword and competitive data. The real limitation is that none of it is priced in public. There are no tiers, no prompt limits and no trial, and it is not stated which AI modules a given proposal includes. Reviewers on G2 report high or opaque pricing, a learning curve and cumbersome navigation. G2 shows 4.4/5 from 882 reviews, checked September 30, 2026.
SE Ranking AI Visibility
SE Ranking is an SEO platform founded in 2013, and its AI Search Toolkit lives inside the suite. The AI Results Tracker captures answers from Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity through the user interface, checks tracked prompts daily, and reports mentions, links, positions, cited sources and competitors. It is aimed at SEO teams and agencies that want AI tracking next to rank tracking and audits.
The standout is that the price is on the page. Core is $129 a month and Growth is $279, with AI tracking included, and a 14-day trial needs no credit card. API and MCP access come with every plan. The limits are mostly about packaging. There are three ways to buy AI tracking (suite plan, AI Search add-on, SE Visible standalone) with different units, and sentiment sits in SE Visible rather than the main tracker. Claude and Copilot are not tracked, and no SOC 2 report or SSO is stated on its pages.
Reviews are for the suite as a whole. G2 shows 4.7/5 from 1,606 reviews, but those are not ratings of the AI product itself.
DeepSmith: the alternative that gives each client a workspace and writes the content
Both tools stop at the same place for an agency. They tell you where a client is missing from AI answers, and the article that fixes it is made somewhere else. BrightEdge offers briefs and drafting help through Content Advisor and Copilot, and its Publishing Agent pushes approved title, meta and H1 changes to a CMS. SE Ranking has an AI Writer in the suite plans, separate from the AI tracking product. Neither lists stored brand context for generated content.
DeepSmith closes that gap in one platform. AEO tracks mention rate, citation rate and share of voice per engine, shows which of a client's pages AI cites, and lists who wins the citations you are missing. Opportunity Agents turn those gaps into ideas, each with the data point that justifies it. Content Studio then produces the article through the Writer, grounded in Deep IQ, which stores the client's company, product, persona, voice and visual guidelines once. Output is publish-ready, with internal and external links, a cover image and metadata, and it goes to WordPress, Webflow, Strapi, Sanity or Contentful, or to your own webhooks.

For agency work the packaging matters as much as the features. Multi-Workspace runs each client as a fully isolated workspace with its own context, content and plan, and each workspace is billed and limited independently. The plans are public: Pro is $99 a month ($80 billed annually) with 20 articles, 50 tracked prompts and 5 seats, Grow is $199 ($160) with 40 articles and 100 prompts, and Scale is $399 ($299) with 90 articles and 200 prompts. There is a 7-day free trial and no long-term contract. DeepSmith's plans don't include crawler log analytics, and its tracking focuses on the answers and the pages AI cites, which is the part a content team acts on.
Pricing and value
SE Ranking wins on price transparency, and the gap is wide. Core is $129 a month ($103.20 billed annually) with 100 prompts tracked daily, 10 projects and one manager seat. Growth is $279 ($223.20 annually) with 250 daily prompts, 30 projects and three manager seats. BrightEdge publishes nothing, so there is no number to compare. A third-party site estimates a starting figure, but that is not a BrightEdge quote and should not go in a client proposal.
For an agency, the add-ons decide the real cost. SE Ranking's Agency Pack is $69 a month on annual billing and adds 30 client seats, white label and scheduled reporting. Growth at the annual rate plus the pack comes to $292.20 a month. The AI Search add-on runs from $89 to $345 a month for 200 to 1,000 checks, where one check is one prompt on one engine, so one prompt on five engines uses five checks. SE Ranking's own pricing page calls these units prompts while its help center calls them checks, so confirm the unit in writing before you size a client.
What DeepSmith does: the price is per workspace and public, so a new client is a plan you can see before you sign. Pro, Grow and Scale each include a fixed monthly article allowance next to the tracked prompts, which means the cost of content production is part of the same number.
Multi-client management and reporting
In SE Ranking AI Visibility vs BrightEdge on managing several clients, SE Ranking is the clearer fit. Projects are the unit, 10 on Core and 30 on Growth, with an account-wide prompt pool, and AI metrics flow into Report Builder (10 reports on Core, 30 on Growth). White label arrives with the paid Agency Pack. SE Visible does not support white labeling yet, so check which product the reporting comes from.
BrightEdge is harder to read here. Its record shows multiple clients in one account as partial, with agency support and cross-site views mentioned but not described in detail. StoryBuilder dashboards export and can be scheduled for distribution, and AI Catalyst charts export to PNG and CSV. White labeling is not mentioned.
What DeepSmith does: each client gets its own isolated workspace, so one client's context, content and plan never mixes with another's. Teammates are invited as owners or members per workspace.
Engine coverage and tracking method
Both tools track the same five engines: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode and Gemini. The real difference is how each documents its method. SE Ranking says it captures answers through the user interface, checks daily and keeps full answer text for 30 days through the API, with presence metrics for a year. BrightEdge does not publish its sampling frequency, collection method, languages or answer retention, so the same prompt count means something different on each side.
SE Ranking is the better documented, and it also tracks ads in ChatGPT and AI Mode answers and records the position of a brand inside an answer. BrightEdge goes further on the site side, with AI Agent Insights reporting visits and failures from ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Gemini agents, which it describes as available to enterprise customers.
What DeepSmith does: Pro tracks ChatGPT, Grow adds Perplexity, Scale adds Gemini, and Enterprise covers all ten engines. Each tracked prompt keeps its answer history, so an agency can show a client what each engine actually said.
Security and data access
BrightEdge wins on trust documentation. Its trust page lists SOC 2, ISO/IEC 27001:2022, 27701:2019 and 42001:2023, plus SAML SSO, though the SOC 2 report type and audit scope are not stated. SE Ranking's scraped pages state no SOC 2, ISO or SSO, which is an absence of evidence rather than proof that it has none.
On data access they are closer. Both have a public API and an MCP server. BrightEdge's MCP server is read-only with OAuth, and it is available to all BrightEdge customers, with the OAuth client ID coming from the customer success manager. SE Ranking includes API and MCP access on every plan, runs MCP on API credits, and exposes 180+ tools.
What DeepSmith does: DeepSmith is SOC 2, GDPR and ISO certified. Its REST API and 23-tool MCP server are read-only, with scoped keys and no credits spent on reads, so a client's analyst can pull visibility data and the article library into their own tools.
From insight to action
Neither tool finishes the job. BrightEdge turns citation gaps into briefs and page-level recommendations with estimated impact, and its Publishing Agent applies approved title, meta and H1 updates to WordPress, Drupal or another CMS, with a person confirming each change. That is useful work, and it stops short of full articles. SE Ranking suggests actions in its Rankings and Sources tabs, such as sources that mention competitors but not you, and the AI Writer and Content Marketing tool sit at the suite level, not tied to the AI tracking data.
On this axis the two are close. BrightEdge is stronger on turning data into a specific recommendation, and SE Ranking is stronger at producing a draft inside the same suite. Neither lists brand-context grounding, so every draft depends on the brief the agency supplies.
What DeepSmith does: an Opportunity Agent reads the client's own visibility data and returns ideas with the evidence attached, the Writer produces the article from Deep IQ context, and Autowrite can take a planned idea all the way to a finished piece on its date. Produced Content is reviewed and published to the client's CMS, and Repurpose and the Apps Library turn the article into LinkedIn, newsletter and other channel versions.
Which should you choose
- DeepSmith: the agency that wants tracking and production for each client in one place, with a separate workspace per client and public prices it can quote back.
- BrightEdge: the agency serving large enterprise clients that already run their SEO through BrightEdge, where AI visibility is one more module on an existing contract and SOC 2 documentation is a requirement.
- SE Ranking AI Visibility: the agency running SEO for many smaller sites that wants rank tracking, audits and AI tracking in one subscription, and wants to try it for 14 days without a card.
