Writer sells an enterprise platform by contract and does not show a price for its Starter tier, while NeuronWriter lists five plans from $23 a month, with unlimited team members from Gold. Writer suits large organizations that need governance, and NeuronWriter suits freelancers and small agencies that want a search content editor at a low price. DeepSmith is a third option for teams that want public plans covering tracking and writing, with bulk article generation and Autowrite scheduled publishing from $99 a month.
If you are weighing Writer AI vs NeuronWriter, the first thing you notice is that you are comparing two different ways of buying. NeuronWriter puts every plan and limit on its pricing page. Writer shows a Starter trial and a sales-led Enterprise tier, and the rest happens in a quote. This page goes through what each one costs, what each plan includes, and who each one fits. It also covers where DeepSmith sits, since its plans are public and include bulk article generation and scheduled publishing.

Writer

Writer is an enterprise AI platform. Its main product is WRITER Agent, which plans and carries out multi-step work, along with playbooks, a Knowledge Graph and its own Palmyra models. It is aimed at large organizations, with marketing and revenue teams as the lead audience, so it is a less natural fit for a small team that just wants an SEO writing tool. For a direct look at it against our own platform, see DeepSmith vs Writer.
The standout is governance. Writer lists SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001, 27701 and 42001 certifications, SAML SSO and SCIM on Enterprise, and voice profiles tied to style guides and banned terms. The real limitation is pricing. Starter is a 14-day trial for up to five users and its price is not on the plans page, and Enterprise is credit-metered under a contract. SEO data comes through a Semrush connector rather than a built-in keyword or SERP toolset.
On reviews, Writer has 4.4/5 on G2 from 130 reviews. TrustRadius is lower at 5.7/10 from 27 ratings, as checked in September 2026. Reviewers praise ease of use and brand voice consistency, and some say the output was generic and needed editing.
NeuronWriter

NeuronWriter is a content editor built around the Google results. It analyzes the top pages for a keyword and turns them into term, entity, heading and length recommendations with a live content score. It adds AI drafting, a plagiarism checker, internal link suggestions and a smaller AI Visibility module. It is built for freelancers, small businesses and small to mid-sized agencies. The same look against our own platform is in DeepSmith vs NeuronWriter.
The standout is the price and how plainly it is stated. Plans run from $23 to $117 a month, and Gold at $69 adds unlimited team members, WordPress and Search Console, the API and an MCP server. The limitation is that Bronze and Silver are gated, with read-only sharing and standard templates only. The vendor also documents no SOC 2 report, ISO certification or SSO, which is a gap in what it has published rather than proof that it has none.
Reviewers rate it 4.4/5 on G2 from 31 reviews and 4.5/5 on Trustpilot from 68 reviews. Capterra shows 4.9/5 from 17 reviews, all as checked in September 2026. They credit the SERP guidance and the value, and note generic AI drafts and a learning curve.
DeepSmith: the alternative that prices articles and publishes on a schedule

Both tools leave a gap for a team that wants to publish a lot of content on a budget it can predict. Writer's playbooks can run in bulk and on schedule triggers, and its CMS connectors can push content, so a team can build something like it, but Writer does not describe it as a ready feature with limits. NeuronWriter documents creating analyses in bulk through its API and Zapier, but not generating many articles in one run or publishing on a schedule, and its MCP server cannot publish to WordPress.
DeepSmith is an AI search analytics and content production platform in one, and its public plans include both halves. The AI Visibility module tracks mention rate, citation rate and share of voice for the questions you define. ChatGPT is tracked on Pro, Perplexity is added on Grow, Gemini on Scale, and all ten engines are covered on Enterprise. Content Map shows the topics competitors cover that you do not, and Opportunity Agents turn those gaps into ideas that carry their evidence. DeepSmith's plans do not include a SERP-based content score, because keyword coverage, heading structure and internal links are applied while the article is written.

The production side is where the pricing differs from the other two. The Writer turns a planned idea into a finished article with research, internal and external links, a cover image and publish-ready metadata, drawing on the brand context stored in Deep IQ. You can plan articles individually or in bulk, and Autowrite writes each one on its scheduled date and can take it all the way to published without anyone in the app. Publishing goes to WordPress, Webflow, Strapi, Sanity or Contentful, or to your own webhooks. A wider list of AI content tools with CMS auto-publish is covered separately.

The plans price by articles and tracked prompts. Pro is $99 a month ($80 billed annually) with 20 articles, 50 tracked prompts and 5 seats. Grow is $199 ($160 annually) with 40 articles, 100 prompts and 7 seats. Scale is $399 ($299 annually) with 90 articles, 200 prompts and 10 seats. Enterprise is custom and covers all ten engines. There is a 7-day free trial and no long-term contract, and DeepSmith is rated 4.8/5 on G2 and is SOC 2, GDPR and ISO certified.
Pricing and value
NeuronWriter is the clearer choice on price, and the clearer about it. Its five plans are $23, $45, $69, $93 and $117 a month, or $19, $37, $57, $77 and $97 a month billed yearly. Each plan lists its analyses, AI credits, projects and monitored questions. The one price that is not fixed is the AI Monitoring Addon, which shows $9 a month at 10 questions on its pricing page, with larger steps not shown.
Writer's plans page does not show a Starter seat price or a credit amount. Enterprise is quote-only, with one credit equal to one US dollar and a credit package set in the contract. Lite users get $30 of credits per user per month, and model usage is metered at published rates, such as Palmyra X6 at $2 input and $8 output per million tokens. A third-party article has quoted a per-seat figure for Starter, but Writer's own page does not confirm it, so I would not budget from it. Clearscope vs Writer covers the same contract versus self-serve question for another editor. If you are comparing Writer vs NeuronWriter pricing, the honest answer is that only one of them can be priced from a web page. So whether it is Writer AI or NeuronWriter for you depends first on how much of the cost you need to see before talking to anyone.
What DeepSmith does: DeepSmith prices by what you produce and track, so the monthly cost maps to 20, 40 or 90 articles and a set number of prompts. Bulk generation and Autowrite scheduled publishing are included in those public plans, not added on top of a contract.
Team seats and developer access
NeuronWriter wins on seats, because Gold and above list unlimited team members with create, edit and read access. The Neuron API and an OAuth MCP server with 11 tools come with Gold at no extra cost, and only new queries count against the monthly analysis limit. Bronze and Silver do not list the API or MCP. Jasper vs NeuronWriter looks at the same seat question against a per-seat tool.
Writer lists API access on Starter and expanded rate limits on Enterprise, with usage metered per token and per page. It also has an MCP server for assistants such as Claude Desktop and Cursor, which needs an API key. Starter is capped at five users and five playbooks, so a bigger team has to move to a contract.
What DeepSmith does: DeepSmith plans include 5, 7 and 10 seats on Pro, Grow and Scale. Its REST API and 23-tool MCP server are read-only, so they pull visibility, Content Map and article data into your own tools, and signed webhooks can trigger your own publishing.
SERP optimization and drafting
In a NeuronWriter vs Writer AI comparison on search optimization, NeuronWriter is stronger, since SERP analysis is the core of the product. Each analysis reads the top 10, top 30 or top-intent results and produces NLP terms, entities, heading suggestions and a content score against what the top pages do. It also suggests internal links using Search Console data and generates schema markup. The closest like-for-like comparison is NeuronWriter vs Surfer, which looks at budget fit. Content Designer, which writes a full article from a topic, starts at Gold.
Writer has no keyword database or SERP analysis of its own. Its content score checks a draft against the company's writing rules, such as grammar, style guide and terms, not against top-ranking pages. What it does have is more than 100 prebuilt agents for briefs, outlines, emails and ads. Reviewers of both tools say the drafts can be generic and need editing, so budget editing time with either.
Governance, brand voice and security
Writer is clearly ahead on governance. Voice profiles are built from examples and linked to style guides and term lists, the Knowledge Graph grounds output in company knowledge, and Enterprise adds SAML SSO, SCIM, audit logs and SOC 2 reporting. For a regulated or large organization, that is much of what the contract is paying for.
NeuronWriter's AI Profile pulls a brand voice, products and personas from a website or uploaded documents and feeds them into Content Designer. That is useful for a small team, though advanced brand voice controls are listed as roadmap. No SSO or security attestation appears in its published material, so a buyer with a security review should ask for one directly.
AI visibility tracking
NeuronWriter is ahead here, because it has a dedicated module. AI Visibility reports share of voice, brand mentions, domain citations, sentiment and competitors, and rechecks discussions every 24 to 48 hours. The Standard allowance is 5 to 20 monitored questions per plan and covers Google AI Overviews and AI Mode. ChatGPT and Perplexity come with the Advanced add-on, which runs up to 1,000 questions.
Writer lists scheduled visibility monitoring across ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity as a use case you build with agents and playbooks. It is not a dedicated tracker, and the engines per plan, prompt volumes and collection method are not documented.
What DeepSmith does: DeepSmith tracks 50, 100 or 200 prompts on Pro, Grow and Scale, with per-prompt mention and citation rates and answer history. Its Pages view shows which of your pages AI cites, and competitor citations show who wins each prompt and on which page.
From insight to action
On paper Writer is closer to hands-off, because playbooks can run on schedule triggers and connectors can push to Webflow, Adobe Experience Manager and Contentful. NeuronWriter's route stops at a draft that you export to WordPress from Gold. Neither describes a turnkey bulk generator with a monthly allowance. AirOps vs Writer for Bulk Publishing compares cost at volume for Writer against a tool that documents bulk publishing.
What DeepSmith does: DeepSmith moves from a tracked gap to a published article inside one platform. An Opportunity Agent returns ideas with the data point behind each one, the idea moves to Planned Content with a date, and Autowrite writes it using the stored persona, voice, content type and link targets. The finished article lands in Produced Content for review, or it publishes hands-off to your CMS.
Which should you choose
The choice depends on how you buy and what you need produced. If Writer is on your shortlist, the wider set of Writer alternatives is worth a look. The NeuronWriter alternatives page does the same for the other side.
- DeepSmith: you want to know where you show up in AI answers and also produce and publish the articles that close the gaps, on public plans from $99 a month, with bulk generation and scheduled publishing included.
- Writer: you are a large organization with marketing and revenue teams that need governed agents, SSO and certifications, and you are fine with a contract and credit-based pricing.
