Writesonic and SE Ranking AI Visibility split on where the tracking lives. SE Ranking puts five-engine AI tracking inside an SEO suite with rank tracking and audits, and it shows no query fan-out or AI referral data. Writesonic adds both, plus AI article writing and CMS publishing, but tracks three engines on self-serve plans. DeepSmith tracks AI answers and produces publish-ready, Deep IQ-grounded articles on a fixed monthly allowance, with Autowrite scheduling and repurposing in the Apps Library.
If your team already lives in rank tracking, adding AI visibility usually means choosing between two paths. One is an SEO suite that has started tracking AI answers, and the other is an AI search platform that also writes. That is the real question in Writesonic vs SE Ranking AI Visibility, and the answer depends on how much of the work after tracking you want inside the same tool. DeepSmith is a third path, because it tracks AI answers and also produces the articles that close the gaps.
Writesonic vs SE Ranking AI Visibility: the short answer
- Choose DeepSmith if you want tracking and publish-ready production on one self-serve plan, starting at $99 a month with 20 articles, 50 tracked prompts and a 7-day free trial.
- Choose Writesonic if you want fan-out and AI referral data next to an article writer and one-click CMS export, and you are fine with ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews on self-serve plans or an Enterprise contract for all ten engines.
- Choose SE Ranking AI Visibility if rank tracking, audits and AI tracking in one suite matter most, since Core is $129 a month with 100 daily prompts on five engines and API and MCP access on every plan.

Writesonic
Writesonic started in 2021 as an AI writing tool, is backed by Y Combinator, and now calls itself an AI search growth engine. It tracks prompts daily and reports mentions, citations, share of voice and sentiment, then pairs that with an Action Center, site audits and an AI Article Writer. It is built for marketing, SEO and content teams and agencies that want tracking and content work in one product.

The standout is how much sits next to the tracking. According to its pricing page, AI crawler analytics and ad tracking come on every plan, query fan-out tracking is offered, and one-click export reaches WordPress, Sanity, Contentful, Webflow and Ghost. Self-serve plans run $79 to $399 a month billed annually and include a 7-day free trial with no card.
The limits are about packaging. Starter, Basic and Growth track three engines, ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, and the ten-engine set, the full Action Center, Page Tracker, alerts and GA4 sit on custom Enterprise plans. Each self-serve plan also covers one market.
Writesonic holds 4.7/5 on G2 from 2,133 reviews and 4.8/5 on Capterra from 2,102, checked in September 2026. Most of those reviews are about the older writing product. The smaller group from AI visibility users mentions easy setup and good competitor views, along with a learning curve and unclear scoring.
SE Ranking AI Visibility
SE Ranking is an SEO platform founded in 2013, and its AI Search Toolkit tracks how a brand is mentioned, linked and positioned in answers from Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity. It is built for SEO teams and agencies that already run, or want, a full suite with AI tracking next to rank tracking and audits.

The standout is the bundle. Core is $129 a month ($103.20 billed annually) and includes 100 prompts tracked daily on five engines, 10 projects and AI competitor research for five domains, with no add-on needed. Growth is $279 a month with 250 daily prompts. API and MCP access come with every plan, and the MCP server exposes 180+ tools. The tracker also reports where a brand sits inside an answer.
The limits are in scope. It tracks no Claude or Copilot, and sentiment lives in the separate SE Visible product. Query fan-out and GA4-based AI traffic are marked as coming soon, so there is no fan-out or measured AI referral data today. Full answer text is kept for 30 days, and the packaging is hard to read because plans count daily prompts while the AI Search add-on counts monthly checks.
Its G2 rating is 4.7/5 from 1,606 reviews, but that covers the whole suite and not the AI product. AI-specific reviewers like repeatable monitoring and ask for more flexible ways to organize prompts and sources.
DeepSmith: the alternative that tracks and writes
Writesonic already writes and publishes, so the case for DeepSmith is not that it writes and the others do not. It is about the terms. DeepSmith tracks how AI engines answer questions about your brand, finds the gaps, and produces the articles that close them from the same data, with a published price and a fixed monthly article allowance.

The tracking covers mention rate, citation rate, share of voice, sentiment and visibility trend, with a competitor leaderboard and the sources AI cites most. The Writer then turns one planned idea into a finished article that is researched, internally and externally linked, and carries a cover image and publish-ready metadata. Output is publish-ready, which means a finished article and not a first draft to rescue. Every article is grounded in Deep IQ, which stores your company, products, personas, brand voice, visual guidelines and content types, so voice and product facts do not depend on a new brief each time.
Autowrite is the hands-off part. You set an article up at planning time, it writes itself on the scheduled date, and it lands in Produced Content with no one in the app. From there you review and publish to WordPress, Webflow, Strapi, Sanity or Contentful, or to your own webhooks. The Apps Library turns the same article into versions for LinkedIn, X, Medium, Substack, newsletters and more, each adapted to the channel.
Plans are Pro at $99 a month, Grow at $199 and Scale at $399, or $80, $160 and $299 billed annually, with 20, 40 and 90 articles a month. Pro tracks ChatGPT, Grow adds Perplexity, Scale adds Gemini, and Enterprise covers all ten engines. There are no long-term contracts. If you want DeepSmith set against Writesonic directly, the DeepSmith vs Writesonic page does that. The DeepSmith vs SE Ranking comparison covers SE Visible, and the Writesonic alternatives page covers the wider field.

Engine coverage
SE Ranking AI Visibility wins on engine coverage at the entry price, and Writesonic wins at the top end. Core tracks five engines for $129 a month, including both Google surfaces, AI Overviews and AI Mode, plus ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity. Writesonic's Starter, Basic and Growth plans track three, and the other seven engines, Google AI Mode, Perplexity, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Grok, Meta AI and DeepSeek, come with Enterprise. A team that wants Perplexity and AI Mode without a sales call gets them from SE Ranking. A team that wants Claude or Copilot has to go to Writesonic Enterprise, because SE Ranking does not track them.
Both vendors say they capture answers through the real interface and not through model APIs, and both check daily. SE Ranking also says region settings apply to AI Overviews, AI Mode and Gemini but not to ChatGPT or Perplexity, while each Writesonic self-serve plan includes one market.
What DeepSmith does: DeepSmith names ten engines, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Grok, Meta AI, Microsoft Copilot and DeepSeek. Coverage rises by tier, and Enterprise covers all ten. Results come with a per-platform breakdown, so you can see which engine is driving the mentions and citations.
Tracking depth and data method
The two tie on core tracking, and each is ahead on one extra. Both track prompts daily, record cited sources and URLs, show which of your own pages earn citations, benchmark named competitors on the same prompts and keep full answer text. SE Ranking AI Visibility vs Writesonic comes down to position against fan-out. SE Ranking reports mention position and link position inside each answer, with top-3 presence and average position, and Writesonic's record shows only a shopping rank. Writesonic tracks query fan-out, the sub-queries a model ran and which of them mention the brand, and SE Ranking lists that as coming soon.
Retention and sentiment differ too. SE Ranking keeps full answer text for 30 days and presence metrics for one year. Writesonic does not state a retention period. Writesonic offers sentiment on Growth and Enterprise, while SE Ranking's sits in SE Visible, which comes with the AI Search add-on or is sold on its own from $99 a month.
What DeepSmith does: Each tracked prompt carries its own mention and citation rate over time, per engine, with the full answer history and the specific pages of yours that were cited. The Pages view shows each page's share of your total citations and the prompts driving it, and competitor citations show who wins which prompt and on which exact page. Sentiment is one of the tracked metrics.
Pricing and value
Writesonic is the lower entry price on paper, and SE Ranking AI Visibility is the more predictable one. Writesonic's Starter is $79 a month billed annually, Basic is $199 and Growth is $399, and each includes 15, 25 or 50 articles a month along with the tracking. SE Ranking's Core is $129 monthly or $103.20 billed annually, Growth is $279 or $223.20, and the AI Search add-on runs $89 to $345 a month for 200 to 1,000 checks.
There are two cautions. Writesonic's month-to-month prices for Basic and Growth are implied by its annual savings badges and are not shown on the pricing page, and the Enterprise tier is custom, which is where most execution features sit. SE Ranking has three ways to buy AI tracking, a suite plan, the add-on and SE Visible, counted in different units, and how plan prompts and add-on checks combine is not stated. Reviewers of Writesonic also mention credit limits and changing plan allowances, mostly in reviews of the writing product.
What DeepSmith does: DeepSmith publishes four plans, and the allowances are on the pricing page. Pro, Grow and Scale include 50, 100 and 200 tracked prompts, 20, 40 and 90 articles a month, and 5, 7 and 10 seats. Tracking and writing share one plan, there are no long-term contracts or cancellation fees, and the 7-day free trial lets you see real data and real drafts before you pay.
Site and traffic data
Writesonic wins this axis. Its AI Agent Analytics reads server logs for AI bot visits on every plan, and it attributes human click-throughs from AI citations by platform, although the GA4 integration is Enterprise only. SE Ranking's record shows no AI bot or crawler analytics, and its GA4-based AI Traffic Analytics is marked coming soon, so the tracker offers estimated traffic potential from AI Overviews and AI Mode and not measured visits. SE Ranking does include a suite-level Website Audit, with 250k pages a month on Core, but no AI readability audit is described. Writesonic includes site audits with automatic AI fixes on every plan.
For an SEO team that already has GA4 and server logs in place, this gap matters less, since you can measure AI visits yourself. DeepSmith's plans don't include crawler log analytics. Its tracking reports the pages AI actually cites and the prompts driving them, so the work goes to the pages that earn citations.
From insight to action
Writesonic wins this axis. SE Ranking's AI tracking turns data into recommendations, such as untracked AI Overview keywords and sources that mention competitors but not you. The writing sits at suite level, with an AI Writer that allows 25 articles on Core and 50 on Growth, and it is not tied to the AI visibility data. WordPress export comes through a content add-on.
Writesonic's Action Center ranks on-page, off-page and technical fixes by impact, confidence and effort. Its Article Writer produces long-form articles of 3,000 to 8,000 words that the vendor describes as publish-ready, with one-click export on every plan, and brand kits cover tone, vocabulary and banned phrases. The limits are the gating. The full Action Center and Content Optimization are Enterprise only, and Growth gets five on-page and five off-page actions a month.
What DeepSmith does: DeepSmith runs the whole loop in one platform. Opportunity Agents read your visibility data and your Content Map, and each idea carries the data point that justifies it. Ideas move to Planned Content, the Writer produces an article grounded in Deep IQ, and Autowrite can take it all the way to published without anyone in the app. The Apps Library then adapts the article for each channel, so distribution is a normal step and not a separate project.
Which should you choose
- DeepSmith: for a team that wants AI tracking and publish-ready articles on one self-serve plan with a published price. It suits marketing leads who want the gaps AI shows turned into scheduled, on-brand articles, with an API and MCP server for reading the data into their own tools.
- Writesonic: for a team that wants fan-out data, AI referral attribution and crawler analytics next to an article writer, and that either works within three engines on self-serve or is ready for an Enterprise contract to reach ten.
- SE Ranking AI Visibility: for an SEO team that lives in rank tracking and wants AI tracking, audits and reporting in the same suite, with five engines at Core and API and MCP on every plan.
