Bluefish and SE Ranking AI Visibility solve different problems. Bluefish is a sales-led enterprise platform that tracks AI shopping assistants and sends tactics to a managed team, while SE Ranking AI Visibility is a self-serve tracker for five engines inside an SEO suite. DeepSmith is a strong third option for ecommerce teams that want to track AI answers and then produce and publish the articles that close the gaps, on one self-serve plan from $99 a month.

The question behind Bluefish vs SE Ranking AI Visibility for ecommerce is which AI surfaces you can actually see and what it costs to start. Bluefish names Amazon's shopping assistants and sells through a demo. SE Ranking AI Visibility names five search and chat engines and sells through a free trial. Neither one writes and publishes the articles that fix what the tracking finds, which is where DeepSmith fits.

Bluefish vs SE Ranking AI Visibility: the short answer

  • Choose DeepSmith if you want AI visibility tracking and publish-ready article production on one self-serve plan, with Deep IQ grounding every draft in your product facts and plans from $99 a month.
  • Choose Bluefish if you are a large enterprise brand that needs Amazon Rufus and Alexa for Shopping tracking, plus a managed strategy team, and you are fine buying through a demo with no published price.
  • Choose SE Ranking AI Visibility if you already work in an SEO suite and want daily tracking of five engines, answer history, an API and a free 14-day trial, and you do not need shopping assistant coverage on record.

Bluefish

The Bluefish homepage headline reads Agentic Marketing for the Fortune 500, with a Request a demo button and a chat-style assistant interface beneath it.

Bluefish is an enterprise platform from Bluefish Labs, a New York company launched in 2024. It tracks how AI assistants and Amazon's shopping assistants describe a brand, generates optimization tactics, and measures which actions moved the numbers. It sells three suites: AI Monitoring, AI Optimization and AI Data. The vendor targets Fortune 500 brands with several marketing teams to coordinate, and most customers also buy its strategy services.

The standout for an ecommerce brand is shopping coverage. Bluefish tracks Amazon Rufus and Alexa for Shopping, along with product recommendations and product page visibility, and it says it is the only enterprise platform doing both chat engines and shopping assistants. It also has AI Accuracy, which checks what AI says about a brand against a Brand Vault of first-party facts.

The limits are about access. Bluefish publishes no pricing, no plan tiers and no usage limits, and every entry point is a demo request. It does not write articles, and its own site says "Bluefish provides the direction. You stay the author." The security badges on its site (SOC 2 Type 2, SSO) have no public trust center behind them. On reviews, its G2 listing had no reviews when checked on 2026-09-30, so there is no independent user feedback to weigh.

SE Ranking AI Visibility

The SE Ranking AI Visibility Tracker page promises tracking across Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT and Gemini, with Start free trial and Request a demo buttons and engine badges including Perplexity.

SE Ranking AI Visibility is the AI Search Toolkit inside SE Ranking, an SEO platform founded in 2013. It tracks how a brand is mentioned, linked and positioned in answers from Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, and it sits next to rank tracking, audits and keyword research. It is built for SEO teams and agencies that want AI tracking next to the rest of their search work.

The standout is how openly it documents what it does. Answers are captured through the UI as a real user would see them, prompts are checked daily, and the pages state how mentions and links are matched. API and MCP access come with every plan, and it also tracks paid ads that show up in ChatGPT and AI Mode answers.

The limits are packaging and scope. Claude and Microsoft Copilot are not tracked, sentiment lives in the separate SE Visible product, and there are three purchase paths with different units. Shopping result tracking is not on record. The review ratings (G2 4.7/5 from 1,606 reviews, checked 2026-09-30) are for the whole SEO suite, not the AI product, and AI-specific reviewers ask for more flexible ways to organize prompts and sources.

DeepSmith: the alternative that tracks and writes

The DeepSmith homepage headline reads One platform for AI search analytics and content production, above a dashboard showing mention rate, citation rate, share of voice and a competitor leaderboard.

Neither Bluefish nor SE Ranking AI Visibility turns a tracked gap into a finished article. Bluefish hands your team briefs and tactics and says you stay the author. SE Ranking has an AI Writer and a Content Marketing tool, but they sit in the wider suite, apart from the AI tracking product, and no stored brand or product context for them is on record. For an ecommerce team that finds a dozen gaps a month, that leaves the slow part of the job, writing and publishing, still to do by hand.

DeepSmith puts tracking and production on one platform. The AI Visibility module reports mention rate, citation rate and share of voice per engine, with answer history for each prompt and a competitor leaderboard. Opportunity Agents read that data and return content ideas, each carrying the data point behind it. Those ideas move into Content Studio, where the Writer turns a planned idea into a researched, linked article with a cover image and publish-ready metadata, and Autowrite can do it on a set date with no one in the app. Deep IQ stores your company, product, persona and voice context once, so every draft is grounded in your real products instead of re-briefed each time.

DeepSmith's AI Visibility overview shows mention rate, citation rate and share of voice as separate metrics, with a per-engine breakdown and a competitor leaderboard, all demo data.

Finished articles publish straight to WordPress, Webflow, Strapi, Sanity or Contentful, or to your own webhooks, and the Apps Library rewrites each one for LinkedIn, X, newsletter email and other channels. DeepSmith's ten tracked engines don't include Amazon's shopping assistants. What it does cover is the loop that comes after tracking, from the cited-page gap to the published page.

DeepSmith's Produced Content view lists finished articles, with a detail card showing a generated cover image, word count, section and link counts and a Publish button, all demo data.

Plans are Pro at $99 a month, Grow at $199 and Scale at $399, or $80, $160 and $299 a month billed annually, with 20, 40 and 90 articles a month. Enterprise is custom and covers all ten engines. There is a 7-day free trial, and DeepSmith is rated 4.8/5 on G2.

Engine coverage and shopping assistants

On engine coverage, the two split by surface rather than one winning outright. Bluefish is the only one of the two with shopping assistants on record, and SE Ranking AI Visibility is the one with a clearly named, documented list of search and chat engines.

Bluefish names ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews as available on all plans, with Claude, Amazon Rufus and Alexa for Shopping also named. Google AI Mode appears only in its own ranking article, so it is not confirmed. The site says it tracks "10+" models but names about eight, and the full list is not published. Existing enterprise customers request Alexa for Shopping by contacting support. How much that coverage matters depends on where purchases happen, and the page on why AI-assisted shoppers still buy on the retailer's site is a useful read there.

SE Ranking AI Visibility lists five engines on trial, Core, Growth and Enterprise: AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity. Country, location and language are set per engine, and region targeting applies to the Google engines but is ignored by ChatGPT and Perplexity. A few older pages on its site list only two or four engines, but the help center, API docs and pricing grid agree on five. Product or shopping result tracking is not described anywhere on its pages.

For Bluefish vs SE Ranking AI Visibility for ecommerce, the practical reading is that a brand selling heavily on Amazon has a reason to look at Bluefish, and a brand whose buyers mostly start in Google and ChatGPT is covered by SE Ranking. If you are still building a shortlist, the best AI visibility tools for ecommerce brands covers a wider field. The guide to AEO tools for ecommerce looks at the same decision from the optimization side. Both are worth a read before you commit to either tool.

What DeepSmith does: it tracks ChatGPT on Pro, adds Perplexity on Grow and Gemini on Scale, and covers all ten engines (adding Claude, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Grok, Meta AI, Microsoft Copilot and DeepSeek) on Enterprise. Tracking sits in the same platform that produces the articles.

Tracking depth and data method

In SE Ranking AI Visibility vs Bluefish on method, SE Ranking is the more transparent of the two, and it is also the one that tracks where your brand sits inside an answer. It records mention position and link position in each AI answer, top-3 presence and average position. It keeps full answer text for 30 days through the API and presence metrics for a year, and it stores cached copies of answers you can open.

Bluefish measures differently. Every KPI starts from a static prompt baseline, tracked daily across 10+ models, so that marketing impact can be separated from model drift. That matters because the day-to-day noise in AI answers can look like a real change if you track loosely. Its AI visibility metrics include visibility, sentiment, citations down to the URL, and an Impact Score for each source. A position metric for chat engines is not described, though it does describe product ranking movement in Amazon's shopping assistants. The company does not say whether answers come from official APIs or consumer interfaces, how often each prompt runs, or how long answer history is kept.

One caution on proof. Bluefish's published Alexa for Shopping case is anonymized, and its headline of one product climbing 550 positions is a best case measured on its own Influence Rank metric, not a sales result. SE Ranking has no AI-specific customer outcomes on record either. In both cases you are comparing documented features, not demonstrated results.

What DeepSmith does: it reports mention rate, citation rate, share of voice and sentiment, with a per-platform breakdown, keeps full answer history per prompt, and shows which of your own pages AI cites and for which prompts. Count prompts with care, because prompts differ from keywords, and a tracked set only helps if it matches how your buyers ask. Discover Prompts generates a starter set from your product, persona and buyer-stage context.

Competitor and citation analysis

Both tools do competitor benchmarking and source analysis, so this is close to a tie, with different shapes.

Bluefish benchmarks against every competitor and breaks visibility and share of voice out by the customer personas you define, which suits a brand that sells to several audiences. Influence Rank ranks how influential your owned content is against competitor and third-party content, and Collections groups pages, earned media links or reviews so you can follow them as one signal over time.

SE Ranking AI Visibility compares competitor domains on the same prompts and runs AI Competitor Research for any domain, with 5 domains on Core and 15 on Growth. Its Sources tab lists cited domains and pages and flags sources that mention competitors but not you. Its API leaderboard ranks a domain against up to 10 competitors by share of voice.

For an ecommerce team the persona breakouts are a Bluefish edge, and the open competitor research is an SE Ranking edge.

What DeepSmith does: its competitor leaderboard ranks tracked rivals by mention, citation and share of voice, and the competitor citations view shows which exact pages win the citations for your prompts and how each rival performs by platform.

Pricing and value

In SE Ranking AI Visibility vs Bluefish on price, SE Ranking is the only one of the two with a number you can check, and that settles this axis on transparency. Bluefish is sales-led, with no published tiers, prices or limits, and a negotiated enterprise order form. Its standard terms, per a third-party reading, renew automatically unless notice is given at least 30 days before expiry, and fees paid are non-refundable, though the order form controls. The terms page returned a 404 when checked, so that reading needs a recheck before you rely on it.

SE Ranking AI Visibility comes three ways, and they are not cumulative:

  • Inside the suite plans, Core at $129 a month ($103.20 billed annually) with 100 prompts tracked daily, and Growth at $279 ($223.20 billed annually) with 250.
  • As the AI Search add-on, at $89, $179 or $345 a month for 200, 450 or 1,000 checks per month, where one check is one prompt on one engine.
  • As SE Visible standalone, from $99 a month.

The units differ, and how plan prompts and add-on checks combine is not stated, so ask for the entitlement in writing before you buy. The free 14-day trial includes 20 AI prompts a day.

There is a cost pattern to keep in mind. Core buys the whole SEO suite, so the AI tracker is priced as part of that. If tracking is all you need, the add-on or SE Visible is the route, and a prompt checked on five engines uses five checks.

What DeepSmith does: it publishes plan prices with a fixed monthly article allowance, so the cost of tracking and writing together is known up front. Pro includes 50 tracked prompts and 20 articles a month for $99, with no long-term contracts.

Security and reviews

SE Ranking AI Visibility has the stronger public review record and Bluefish has the stronger stated security posture, and both leave something for a buyer to verify.

Bluefish lists SOC 2 Type 2, SSO and MFA as badges, and no public trust center, report or data processing agreement was found to back them. That makes them vendor claims for now. It has no independent reviews, and the ROI figures on its site (up to 446%) come from a Forrester study it commissioned, built on six interviews and a modeled composite organization. Treat those as projections, and compare vendors on AI visibility metrics you can check yourself.

SE Ranking AI Visibility states no SOC 2, ISO or SSO on its pages, and third-party research could not verify them either, which is an absence of evidence, not proof of absence. Its ratings are strong but belong to the suite: 4.7/5 on G2 from 1,606 reviews, 4.7/5 on Capterra from 297, and 9/10 on TrustRadius from 40. Reviewers of the AI features value repeatable monitoring and ask for better prompt organization.

If SOC 2 is a hard requirement, ask each vendor for the report.

From insight to action

Bluefish goes further than SE Ranking AI Visibility on turning data into direction, and neither one produces the finished page. Bluefish: Agentic Campaigns generate page-level tactics, content briefs and ranked actions with an owning team, and it measures which tactic moved which metric. SE Ranking AI Visibility gives recommendations inside the tracker, such as untracked AI Overview keywords and sources that mention competitors but not you, while the suite adds an AI Writer and content editor that are not tied to the AI visibility data.

Bluefish does not write full articles and does not list a CMS connector. SE Ranking can export suite content to WordPress, but not from the AI tracking product. So with either one, the writing, the internal linking, the images and the publishing stay with your team or an agency. For an ecommerce brand with a large catalog, that is the slow part of the job, and the reason it helps to turn AI visibility gaps into a content backlog that something actually works through. The same pattern holds whichever tracker feeds it.

What DeepSmith does: Opportunity Agents return ideas with the evidence attached, such as the competitor page winning citations for a tracked prompt. The Writer produces a publish-ready, brand-grounded article with internal and external links, a cover image and metadata, Autowrite does it on schedule, and Produced Content publishes to your CMS. Deep IQ keeps product facts and voice consistent at higher volume, and the Apps Library repurposes each article for other channels.

Which should you choose

Whether you pick Bluefish or SE Ranking AI Visibility depends mostly on where your buyers ask and how you want to buy.

  • DeepSmith fits the ecommerce marketing lead who wants to see where the brand shows up in AI answers and then ship the articles that close the gaps from the same platform, self-serve, from $99 a month, with product and voice context held in Deep IQ so output stays on brand.
  • Bluefish fits a Fortune 500 or large enterprise brand with several teams, material Amazon exposure and a budget for a managed strategy team, where tracking Amazon Rufus and Alexa for Shopping is a requirement.
  • SE Ranking AI Visibility fits an SEO team or agency that already uses SE Ranking, wants daily tracking of five engines with answer history, API and MCP access, and a free trial, and does not need shopping assistant tracking.

If you are weighing either one against a different tracker, a few other comparisons are worth a look. The Profound vs Bluefish comparison looks at content agents against a managed service. The AthenaHQ vs SE Ranking AI Visibility buying guide covers rank-tracking teams. DeepSmith vs SE Ranking looks at SE Visible's AEO module. Each starts from a different buyer than this page does.
