For an agency running content for several clients, NeuronWriter is the easier of the two to set up. It lists projects per plan, and from Gold at $69 a month it adds unlimited team members, an API and an MCP server. MarketMuse sells paid plans through a demo, with one site inventory per plan and five users on the tier aimed at agencies. DeepSmith is a strong alternative when each client needs its own workspace, voice and plan, because Multi-Workspace keeps every client separate and Autowrite writes and publishes articles for each one on schedule.

MarketMuse vs NeuronWriter for agencies comes down to how each tool handles a client roster: how many brands one account holds, how many people can work in it, and what the bill looks like as the list of clients grows. NeuronWriter puts most of those answers on its pricing page. MarketMuse gives most of them on a demo call. DeepSmith fits if you want each client in a separate workspace with its own brand voice and plan, and articles written and published for each one.

MarketMuse vs NeuronWriter for agencies: the short answer

  • Choose DeepSmith if you run content for several brands and want each client in an isolated workspace with its own brand voice, plan and scheduled articles, from tracking to a published page.
  • Choose MarketMuse if your agency plans content by topic cluster, can work with one site inventory per plan and up to five users, and is fine buying through a sales demo.
  • Choose NeuronWriter if you want public prices, a project count that matches your client count, unlimited team members and API and MCP access from the $69 Gold plan.

MarketMuse

The MarketMuse homepage, with its content strategy platform headline and a call to book a demo. MarketMuse is a content strategy tool. It builds an inventory of one site's pages and topics, scores each topic by how hard it is for that site to rank, and turns that into plans, briefs and an editor that scores drafts. For agencies it points to its Strategy plan, which has 5 users, 20 content briefs a month, 5 strategy documents a month and site-level competitor Heatmaps. Each paid plan includes one site inventory, and more sites can be added, though the price for that is not shown. MarketMuse is now part of Siteimprove, which closed its acquisition in October 2024.

The limits show up when you count clients. The Optimize plan has 1 user and Research has 3. The paid plans route to a demo with no listed price, and MarketMuse says it does not write content for its customers, and it has no direct CMS publishing, so content moves by copy and paste. On G2 it holds 4.6/5 from 216 reviews, checked in September 2026. Reviewers praise the topic analysis and briefs, and some raise cost.

NeuronWriter

The NeuronWriter homepage, with the headline Rank on Google. Get cited by AI. and a free trial button. NeuronWriter is a SERP-based editor. It analyzes the top results for a keyword, suggests terms and headings, and scores your draft live. Its own page marks Gold for a small agency and Diamond for an agency responsible for multiple projects.

Projects scale with the plan: 2 on Bronze, 5 on Silver, 10 on Gold, 25 on Platinum and 50 on Diamond. From Gold it lists unlimited team members, the Neuron API, an MCP server and WordPress export. Bronze and Silver are limited to read-only sharing. Reviewers say drafts from the AI writer can be generic and need editing, and some want more generous limits on the entry plans. It holds 4.4/5 on G2 from 31 reviews, checked in September 2026.

DeepSmith: the alternative that gives every client a workspace and writes for each

The DeepSmith homepage, presenting one platform for AI search analytics and content production. The gap the other two leave for an agency is the client structure around the writing. MarketMuse keeps one site inventory per plan. NeuronWriter gives each project an AI Profile of its brand, but the projects share one account, one plan and one analysis allowance.

DeepSmith's Multi-Workspace does that. Each brand or client runs in a fully isolated workspace with its own Deep IQ context, content and plan, and teammates join as owners or members. Deep IQ stores the client's company, products, personas, brand voice and content types once, so every draft for that client is grounded in the same material without a new brief. Autowrite then writes each planned article on its date and can take it through to published, and every finished article arrives with social posts written for it. DeepSmith's tracking sits in the same workspace, so you can see which of a client's pages AI engines cite before deciding what to write next.

Each workspace is billed and limited on its own, and plans run $99, $199 and $399 a month ($80, $160 and $299 billed annually), with a custom Enterprise tier, a 7-day free trial and no long-term contracts. There are no cancellation fees.

Client brands and project structure

NeuronWriter has the clearer answer here. Its project counts are on the pricing page, and Gold at 10 projects or Diamond at 50 maps to a client list without a sales call. MarketMuse is partial on multi-brand work: one site inventory per paid plan, with extra sites described but not priced.

The catch for NeuronWriter is that projects share an account, plan and analysis allowance, so Gold's 75 content analyses a month are spread across all 10 projects.

What DeepSmith does: each client gets a separate workspace with its own context, content and plan, so one client's brand voice and articles never mix with another's. This is the setup agencies use to scale content output across clients without the voices blending.

Team seats and collaboration

NeuronWriter wins on seats. Gold and above list unlimited team members with create, edit and read access, and task assignment, deadlines and statuses are documented, though formal approval steps are not. MarketMuse tops out at 5 users on Strategy, where you can assign content to team members, track due dates and share saved writing with outside writers or editors. Extra seats can be bought, at a price it does not publish.

What DeepSmith does: you invite teammates to each workspace as owners or members, and finished articles land in Produced Content, where someone reviews, edits and publishes them. Seats come with the plan, 5 on Pro and 10 on Scale, and Enterprise limits are custom. Agencies that care about AI-produced content quality across clients tend to want that review step, and this gives each client's articles one place to get it.

API and MCP access

NeuronWriter wins this one outright. The Neuron API on Gold and above can list projects, create and fetch queries, and import and evaluate content, and its MCP server has 11 tools at no extra cost. New queries use up your monthly analysis limits, and the MCP server cannot run the one-click article generator or publish to WordPress. MarketMuse's pages don't mention a public API or an MCP server.

What DeepSmith does: the REST API gives read-only access to a workspace's AI visibility data, Content Map, content library and Deep IQ assets, with scoped keys and no credits spent on reads. The MCP server has 23 read-only tools and works with Claude, Claude Code, Cursor and others, with one URL and API key per workspace. Signed webhooks can trigger your own publishing steps.

Pricing and cost per client

NeuronWriter is the only one of the two with a full public price list: $23, $45, $69, $93 and $117 a month, or $19 to $97 billed yearly. A 7-day trial runs on Gold terms without a card. MarketMuse shows no paid price at all. Only the Free plan, with 1 user and 10 queries a month, has a stated cost.

For cost per client, NeuronWriter Diamond at $117 with 50 projects keeps a large roster at a low listed price, as long as 150 analyses a month is enough across them. MarketMuse can't be worked out until a quote arrives, and the extra seats and sites are priced separately.

What DeepSmith does: because each workspace has its own plan, cost follows the client. A client on Pro costs $99 a month for 20 articles and 50 tracked prompts, and a heavier client moves up to Grow or Scale without changing the others.

This page covers the agency question only. The full comparison of the two tools is on the main MarketMuse vs NeuronWriter page. Which should you choose

Choosing MarketMuse or NeuronWriter for agencies depends mostly on how many clients you serve and how many people touch the work. The options below are split on that.

  • DeepSmith if you want every client in its own workspace and plan, with brand voice, scheduled Autowrite articles and tracking all in one place.
  • MarketMuse if your clients are content-heavy sites where topic cluster planning matters more than a seat count, and you accept a demo-led purchase.
  • NeuronWriter if you are a small agency that wants predictable prices and many team members and project folders on one account.

For the wider stack around either choice, the content ops stack a lean agency needs covers what else to plan for.

Frequently asked questions

Which is better for agencies, MarketMuse or NeuronWriter?

NeuronWriter is the easier fit on the facts in this comparison: public prices, project counts, unlimited team members from Gold, and an API and MCP server. MarketMuse suits agencies that value its site-level topic planning and can buy through a demo.

Does MarketMuse support multiple client sites?

Partly. Each paid plan includes one site inventory. The Strategy plan is described as able to add more sites, but the price for that is not published.

Can NeuronWriter handle a large client list?

It offers up to 50 projects on Diamond, and unlimited team members from Gold. The analysis allowance is shared, so 150 analyses a month on Diamond covers all of those projects together.

Is there an alternative to MarketMuse and NeuronWriter that gives each client a separate workspace?

Yes. DeepSmith's Multi-Workspace runs each client in an isolated workspace with its own context, content and plan, and Autowrite can write and publish that client's articles on schedule.
