Conductor gives you the wider set of ways to get AI visibility data out: an MCP server, a Data API and BI-oriented access through AgentStack, sold on a sales-led contract. HubSpot AEO offers a beta read API and a connector for Claude and ChatGPT, starting at $50 a month, and fits teams already working in HubSpot. DeepSmith is a strong alternative for open data access with a content loop attached, since its read-only API and MCP server spend no credits and its articles publish straight to your CMS.

If you are weighing HubSpot AEO vs Conductor for API and MCP access, the question is what each tool lets you pull into your own dashboards and AI assistants, and what that access costs. The two differ a lot on both. Conductor treats data access as a product line, while HubSpot AEO treats it as an add-on to a lower-priced tracker. This page covers only that one job, and the full comparison is HubSpot AEO vs Conductor: Features and Pricing for Multi-Site Enterprises. DeepSmith sits alongside them with a documented API and MCP server of its own.

HubSpot AEO vs Conductor: the short answer

  • Choose DeepSmith if you want a read-only REST API and MCP server with reads that spend no credits, webhooks for your own workflows, and the same workspace producing and publishing the articles that close your visibility gaps, from $99 a month.
  • Choose HubSpot AEO if you already run on HubSpot and want to read AEO data through a beta API or the Claude and ChatGPT connector, from $50 a month.
  • Choose Conductor if you need the broadest access to AI visibility data, with an MCP server on every plan, a Data API and BI connectors, and you can buy through a sales process.

HubSpot AEO

The HubSpot AEO homepage, showing the product page for its answer engine optimization tool. HubSpot AEO is HubSpot's answer engine optimization tool, still labelled beta. It runs tracked prompts daily on ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity and reports visibility, sentiment, share of voice and citations. It is built for marketing teams that want a low-cost start, and for HubSpot Marketing Hub customers who get it with their plan.

On data access, HubSpot says AEO data, prompt management and recommendations are available through its connector for Claude and ChatGPT, with Super Admin approval. Third-party research also found a versioned 2026-09-beta developer guide for a read API covering prompts, runs, answer text, citations and recommendations. That guide names Marketing Hub products, so it is not clear whether a standalone $50 account qualifies. No BI connector, export entitlement or write API was documented. G2 reviewers rate it 4.4/5 and mention easy setup, with complaints about the 25-prompt cap and generic recommendations.

Conductor

The Conductor homepage, showing the enterprise SEO and AEO platform. Conductor is an enterprise SEO and AEO platform with four products, Intelligence, Creator, Monitoring and AgentStack. It is aimed at large, often multi-site teams that want AI visibility next to keyword, analytics and site-monitoring data.

AgentStack is where the data access sits. The MCP server and the official apps in ChatGPT, Claude and Microsoft Copilot are listed on all three plans. The Data API is included on Enterprise and marked "Available" on Essentials and Growth, and the pages do not say whether that means a paid add-on. Conductor also lists a Content API and a Monitoring Reporting API. Prices are not published, and AI tracking runs on credits that vary by engine, from 0.1 per response on Google AI Overviews to 2 on ChatGPT Search. G2 reviewers rate it 4.5/5 from 788 reviews and praise the support, while some find the learning curve and the price hard for smaller teams.

DeepSmith: the alternative that opens its data and publishes the result

The DeepSmith homepage, showing the AI search analytics and content production platform. Neither tool above closes the loop for this job. Conductor has the widest access but stops at drafts, since its Writing Assistant leaves final publishing to your CMS. HubSpot AEO's content path depends on Marketing Hub. DeepSmith puts access and production in one workspace, so the data you pull out is the same data that drives what gets written.

The REST API is read-only and uses scoped API keys. It covers AI visibility (mention rate, citation rate, share of voice, per-platform results, the competitor leaderboard, cited sources, prompts and the AI answers themselves), the Content Map, the content library including article bodies, and Deep IQ assets. Limits are 120 requests per minute per workspace, reads spend no credits, and an OpenAPI spec is published. The MCP server gives an assistant 23 read-only tools and works with Claude, Claude Code, Microsoft Copilot, Perplexity, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf, Gemini CLI, Codex, Zed, Raycast and JetBrains AI Assistant. Webhooks signed with HMAC-SHA256 fire on content status changes, so your own systems can react. DeepSmith's plans don't include native BI connectors, so dashboards read through the API.

DeepSmith's AI Visibility overview shows mention rate, citation rate and share of voice with a per-engine breakdown and a competitor leaderboard, the kind of data its API and MCP server expose; the numbers are demo data.

From there, the Writer produces publish-ready articles and Produced Content publishes to WordPress, Webflow, Strapi, Sanity or Contentful. Plans run $99, $199 and $399 a month ($80, $160 and $299 billed annually), with a 7-day free trial.

DeepSmith's Produced Content view shows a finished article with its cover image, word count and a Publish button for sending it to the CMS; the article and numbers are demo data.

API access

On HubSpot AEO vs Conductor API and MCP access, Conductor is ahead on the API side. It lists a Data API, a Content API and a Monitoring Reporting API with bearer-token authentication, though the Data API is only included on Enterprise and its status below that is unclear. HubSpot AEO's read API is in beta and its docs name Marketing Hub products, so a standalone buyer should confirm eligibility before building on it.

What DeepSmith does: the read-only REST API is part of the workspace, with scoped keys for visibility, Content Map, content and Deep IQ data. Reads spend no credits, so a dashboard that refreshes every hour doesn't use up your plan. The 120 requests per minute limit is published, and so is the OpenAPI spec.

AI assistant and MCP access

Conductor leads here too, which settles HubSpot AEO vs Conductor for API and MCP access in its favor on breadth. Its MCP server is on all three plans and works with agent platforms, and it has official apps for ChatGPT, Claude and Copilot. Fan-out queries and content tools (in beta) are reachable through the MCP. HubSpot AEO reaches Claude and ChatGPT through the HubSpot connector, which covers AEO data, prompt management and recommendations, but the page does not name the protocol and it needs Super Admin approval. HubSpot's route suits an existing HubSpot admin, while Conductor's suits teams wiring several agent tools together.

What DeepSmith does: the MCP server connects one URL and one API key per workspace to the assistant you already use, and the 23 tools let it analyse visibility, competitors, the Content Map and the content library in conversation. It only reads, so an assistant can't change the workspace by accident.

BI and reporting tools

Conductor wins this one, and the evidence is fairly clear. It lists Google Analytics and Search Console on all plans, Adobe Analytics on Growth and Enterprise, and its Data API is positioned for BI tools and data warehouses, with XLSX exports for reports. HubSpot AEO has no documented BI connector or AEO export, and the Google Search Console integration is a separate Marketing Hub SEO feature.

What DeepSmith does: whatever your reporting stack is, the REST API returns visibility, citation and Content Map data you can load into it, and the answers themselves are available too. Because reads cost no credits, a scheduled pull into a warehouse doesn't compete with your tracking allowance.

Cost of access

HubSpot AEO is the cheaper way in, at $50 a month standalone or $45 billed annually, with 25 prompts and 2,500 answers a month. Its content generation and CRM-based prompts need Marketing Hub, which starts at $800 a month billed annually with a $3,000 onboarding fee. Conductor publishes no prices, and its credit model means the number of answers you can track depends on the engine mix, so you need a quote to know what API and MCP access cost together.

What DeepSmith does: pricing is published, with the API and MCP server part of the platform and reads that spend no credits. Pro is $99 a month for 20 articles and 50 tracked prompts, Grow is $199, and Scale is $399 with 90 articles and 200 prompts, so the cost of pulling data out is simply the plan you already have.

Which should you choose

For HubSpot AEO or Conductor for API and MCP access, the pick comes down to the stack you already run and how you want to buy.

  • DeepSmith: teams that want visibility data in their own tools and assistants, and want the same workspace to write the articles that close the gaps and publish them to the CMS, on plans with published prices.
  • HubSpot AEO: teams already in HubSpot that want AEO data in Claude or ChatGPT through the connector, and can confirm beta API access, when the budget is closer to $50 a month than a sales contract.
  • Conductor: enterprise SEO teams, often multi-site, that need an MCP server, a Data API and BI-oriented access in one contract, and are comfortable getting prices through sales.
