For an agency running content for several brands, NeuronWriter is the easier fit between the two: it supports multiple brands, an API and unlimited team members from its $69 Gold plan, while Clearscope offers unlimited users and projects but only partial multi-brand support and no documented API. Both help writers score drafts, and neither writes or publishes for a client on its own. DeepSmith covers that part, with Multi-Workspace keeping each client's Deep IQ separate and Autowrite producing researched articles in that client's brand voice on schedule.

Choosing Clearscope or NeuronWriter for agencies mostly comes down to how each one handles a roster of clients. The two tools score drafts in much the same way, so the differences show up in workspaces, access and price. This page looks at those three things for agencies producing content for several brands, and it places DeepSmith next to them because the real bottleneck for most agencies is output per client. Each section below gives a verdict on one decision.

Clearscope vs NeuronWriter for agencies: the short answer

  • Choose DeepSmith if you want each client in its own workspace with separate brand context, and you want researched, publish-ready articles written for that client on a schedule, starting at $99 a month.
  • Choose Clearscope if your writers already work in Google Docs or WordPress, you want unlimited users and projects on every plan, and the $129 entry price fits your margins.
  • Choose NeuronWriter if you need documented multi-brand projects, an API and an MCP server, and unlimited team members, from $69 a month on Gold.

Clearscope

The Clearscope home page, which promotes SEO content optimization and AI search visibility tracking.

Clearscope is an SEO content optimization tool built around a Content Grade that scores a draft against terms taken from the top-ranking pages for a query. It also offers Topic Exploration, guided AI drafting, Content Inventory for watching published pages decay, and Query Tracking for brand mentions in ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude.

It is built for content and SEO teams, and its case studies include agencies such as Animalz, Growth Machine and Minuttia. The standout for a multi-client shop is packaging: unlimited users and unlimited projects on every plan. The limit is that each project ties to a verified Search Console property and the monthly credits, 20 Drafts and 20 Topic Explorations on Essentials, are shared across the whole account. Clearscope describes no agency or client-workspace features, and no public API.

Reviewers rate it 4.9/5 on G2 (92 reviews) and 4.9/5 on Capterra (60), checked in September 2026. They praise the editor and support, and they name price as the main complaint. We also wrote a longer Clearscope review.

NeuronWriter

The NeuronWriter home page, which promotes content optimization for Google and AI answer engines.

NeuronWriter analyzes the Google results for a keyword and turns them into term, entity and heading recommendations with a live content score. Its editor adds AI drafting, a plagiarism checker on Gold and above, and internal link suggestions, and a smaller AI Visibility module watches a few questions for brand mentions.

The company markets Gold to small agencies and Diamond to agencies responsible for multiple projects. Plans run from $23 to $117 a month, with 2 to 50 projects depending on the tier, and Gold and above add unlimited team members, the API, the MCP server, WordPress export and Search Console. The real limit is that Bronze and Silver have read-only sharing and none of those extras, and no dedicated client portal is documented.

Reviewers give it 4.4/5 on G2 (31 reviews) and 4.5/5 on Trustpilot (68). They like the SERP guidance and the value, and they say AI drafts can be generic and need editing. There is also a list of NeuronWriter alternatives.

DeepSmith: the alternative that produces on-brand output for each client

NeuronWriter also supports multiple brands, so the difference for an agency is less about where clients are kept and more about what comes out for each one. Neither tool writes for a client unattended. Clearscope drafts one piece at a time against a monthly allowance, and NeuronWriter documents no scheduled write and publish. In both, a person still briefs, drafts, edits and publishes each article.

DeepSmith is an AI search analytics and content production platform in one. Multi-Workspace runs multiple brands or clients from one account, each fully isolated with its own context, content and plan. Inside each workspace, Deep IQ stores that client's company, products, personas, brand voice, visual guidelines and content types, and every module reads from it. Content Studio takes an idea through Planned Content to a finished article, and Autowrite writes it on its scheduled date with no one in the app. The draft lands in Produced Content as a researched, linked article with a cover image and metadata, ready to publish to WordPress, Webflow, Strapi, Sanity or Contentful, or to your own webhooks.

The tracking side works per client too. The AI Visibility overview reports mention rate, citation rate and share of voice, with a breakdown by engine and a leaderboard against that client's competitors, so a monthly client report starts from the platform's numbers instead of a spreadsheet. The figure below is demo data, not a customer result.

DeepSmith's AI Visibility overview, shown with demo data, reports mention rate, citation rate and share of voice per engine alongside a competitor leaderboard.

The production side is the part an agency feels most. Each planned article carries a persona, voice, content type, word range and link targets, and Autowrite runs against those. In the demo data below, one article is set to write itself on a chosen date and time.

DeepSmith's Planned Content screen, shown with demo data, has an Autowrite panel scheduled for a set date that lists the persona, voice, content type, visual, word range and link targets the run will use.

Plans are $99, $199 and $399 a month ($80, $160 and $299 billed annually), with 20, 40 and 90 articles a month, and each workspace is billed and limited on its own plan. There is a 7-day free trial and no long-term contract. The DeepSmith vs Clearscope page covers that pairing in full. The DeepSmith vs NeuronWriter page does the same for the other.

Client workspaces and seats

NeuronWriter has the clearer multi-brand setup. It documents projects per plan (2, 5, 10, 25 and 50), and it markets two tiers to agencies. Clearscope has no cap on projects or users, which is generous, but it ties each project to a Search Console property and shares credits across all of them, so one busy client can use up the Drafts the others need. I'd call this one for NeuronWriter, with the note that Clearscope's open user count is easier to live with if your freelancer bench changes a lot.

NeuronWriter's team access is gated by plan. Unlimited team members with create, edit and read permissions start at Gold, so a Bronze or Silver shop is stuck with read-only sharing.

What DeepSmith does: each client gets a separate workspace with its own context, content and plan, so one client's voice, products and personas never mix with another's. Seats scale by plan, from 5 on Pro to 10 on Scale, and teammates are invited as owners or members. The workspace is also where the client's Deep IQ lives, which means a new writer or freelancer starts from the stored brand context instead of a briefing call.

API and automation access

NeuronWriter wins here, and it isn't close. Its Neuron API (version 0.5) and an official remote MCP server with 11 tools are both available from Gold, and the API can create analyses in bulk, fetch recommendations and import or evaluate content. The vendor also lists Zapier and Boost.space. New queries count against the plan's monthly analysis limit. Clearscope has no public API, MCP server or workflow integrations in the pages and research behind this review, and its WordPress plugin brings recommendations into the editor rather than publishing from Clearscope.

What DeepSmith does: a read-only REST API with scoped keys covers visibility data, the Content Map, the content library and Deep IQ assets, at 120 requests per minute per workspace. The MCP server has 23 read-only tools for assistants such as Claude, Cursor and Copilot, with one URL and key per workspace. Signed webhooks fire on content status changes, so an agency can trigger its own publishing or reporting from what DeepSmith produces.

Review and approval workflow

This is close to a tie, because neither vendor documents comment threads or approval steps. Clearscope offers three roles (Member, Manager and Admin), shareable Draft links and exports. NeuronWriter adds task assignment, deadlines, statuses and tags on Gold and above, which is a bit more for tracking who owns which client article. For an agency that wants a formal client sign-off inside the tool, neither one covers it today.

What DeepSmith does: articles finish in Produced Content, where the team reviews and edits the body and metadata before publishing, or lets Autowrite take a piece all the way to published. Review happens on a finished article that already has links, a cover image and metadata, so the editor's time goes to judgment on the client's message.

Pricing across a client roster

NeuronWriter is the cheaper tool by a wide margin. Gold is $69 a month ($57 billed yearly) for 10 projects and 75 content writer analyses, and Diamond is $117 ($97 yearly) for 50 projects and 150 analyses. Clearscope starts at $129 for 20 Drafts and 50 tracked queries, and Business is $399 with 300 tracked queries but the same 20 Drafts. Clearscope shows no annual price. Its monthly plans have no minimum contract and it offers a 14-day trial, against 7 days with no card for NeuronWriter. The wider comparison of the two tools, including decay monitoring, sits on the main Clearscope vs NeuronWriter page.

Price per tool is only part of the cost for an agency, since the writing, editing and publishing time per client is still yours with either one.

Which should you choose

  • DeepSmith fits an agency that wants every client in its own workspace, with brand context stored once and researched articles produced on a schedule, from tracking through publishing, on one self-serve plan.
  • Clearscope fits an agency whose writers live in Google Docs or WordPress, who wants no cap on users or projects, and who can carry the higher entry price. It makes sense over NeuronWriter when the team does not need an API.
  • NeuronWriter fits a small or mid-sized agency that needs documented multi-brand projects, an API or MCP connection and unlimited teammates at a low price, and that is happy to edit AI drafts by hand.

Is Clearscope or NeuronWriter for agencies the better pick?

For most agencies, Clearscope or NeuronWriter for agencies is a question the facts above answer in NeuronWriter's favor. Clearscope is stronger if unlimited users and projects on every plan matter more than the API and price.

Does Clearscope have an API?

No public API is documented in the vendor's pages or in the third-party research behind this review. It also lists no MCP server or workflow integrations. NeuronWriter has an API and an MCP server from its Gold plan.
